Grants for tourism and hospitality in Spain: a guide

The Ministerio de Industria y Turismo, the Spanish ministry of industry and tourism, has agreed how to share out €183 million among the regional governments for sustainability, energy efficiency and digitalisation in the tourism sector (España Digital 2026). Of that, €119 million goes to energy efficiency, €54 million to digital skills and €10 million to social sustainability. For hotels, restaurants and tourism businesses operating in Spain, this is the chance to modernise with public funding.

National support (Ministerio de Industria y Turismo)

Eligible work on energy efficiency:

• Upgrading heating and cooling for energy savings (heat pumps, aerothermal systems)
• Air extraction and renewal systems
• High-efficiency LED lighting
• Thermal storage and solar energy for domestic hot water
• Insulating the building envelope (façades, roofs, windows)

Eligible work on digitalisation:

• Hotel management systems (PMS) and restaurant till systems (TPV)
• Revenue management with artificial intelligence
• Online sales channels and channel managers
• Automated check-in and check-out and guest service
• A website with a booking engine and SEO

Kit Digital (national)

The Kit Digital funds digitalisation solutions for tourism SMEs:

• Segments I-III: €3,000 – €12,000 (small hotels, restaurants)
• Segments IV-V: €25,000 – €29,000 (medium-sized hotels and chains)
• Solutions: a website with bookings, social media management, electronic invoicing, cybersecurity, ERP

Tourism support in Catalonia

Catalonia manages €206 million of Next Generation funds for tourism sustainability plans (Govern.cat, 2026), on top of its own dedicated support:

Grants for tourist accommodation:

• Budget: €11.5 million for sustainability in accommodation
• Coverage: 25–70% of the eligible cost, depending on the work
• Eligible work: solar energy, circular economy, digital monitoring systems, water efficiency
• Delivery period: 6 months from the application

European tourism digitalisation projects:

The Agencia Catalana de Turismo takes part in European programmes (Med Pearls, RESTART MED!, TOURBIT) that provide digital self-assessment tools and training for tourism SMEs.

Other Catalan support:

• Cupons ACCIÓ for strategy and international expansion in tourism businesses
• ICAEN: €37 million for energy efficiency in service-sector buildings (hotels included)
• CCAM: modernisation grants for restaurant businesses

How do you apply for support for your tourism business?

The process follows the usual grant application stages:

1. Find the calls: turismo.gob.es, Canal Empresa (Catalonia), the regional portals
2. Kit Digital: self-assessment at acelerapyme.gob.es, then an approved digitalisation agent
3. Energy efficiency support: through the regional governments, against the ministry's budget
4. Support in Catalonia: Departament d'Empresa i Treball, ICAEN, CCAM
