ChatGPT for business: plans, rollout and success stories
BBVA has given free ChatGPT Business licences to more than 6,000 Spanish SMEs to drive their AI adoption (BBVA, April 2026). OpenAI now has more than one million business customers, after 9x growth in Enterprise licences in a single year (OpenAI, November 2025). 85% of Spanish companies plan to increase their AI investment in the coming financial year (Deloitte, 2026).
ChatGPT for business is no longer an experimental tool: it is productivity infrastructure. But choosing the right plan, protecting your data and training your team is what separates a cost from an investment that pays back (if you are weighing up providers, see our comparison of the best AI tools of 2026).
ChatGPT for business: plans, prices and the key differences

The decision that matters: the Free and Plus plans do use your data to train the model. For business use with sensitive data, Business or Enterprise are mandatory. This distinction is fundamental to GDPR compliance.

Is it safe to use ChatGPT with company data?
Yes, as long as you use the right plan and put the right policies in place. The Business and Enterprise plans include:
- AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.2+ in transit
- SOC 2 Type 2 certification (independent audit)
- ISO/IEC 27001, 27017 and 27018 compliance
- A contractual guarantee that your data is not used to train the model
- A Data Processing Agreement (DPA) available for GDPR compliance
- EU data residency (Enterprise only) — your data never leaves Europe
What every company should do before using ChatGPT
- Use Business or Enterprise only for company data — ban Free and Plus for professional use
- Sign the DPA with OpenAI and run an impact assessment (DPIA) if you process sensitive data
- Draw up an internal usage policy setting out which data may and may not be entered
- Classify your information: never enter personal data without pseudonymisation, trade secrets or confidential financial information
- Document your team's training — mandatory since February 2025 to comply with article 4 of the AI Act
70% of companies say they are highly concerned about the use of proprietary data in AI tools (Deloitte, 2026). With the right configuration, that concern becomes a competitive advantage: a company that deploys ChatGPT with governance gains productivity without regulatory risk.
Success stories: the results companies are getting
The verified data shows measurable impact across different areas:
Overall productivity
- Enterprise users save between 40 and 60 minutes a day; engineers and data scientists save between 60 and 80 minutes (OpenAI, State of Enterprise AI 2025)
- 75% report improvements in the speed or quality of their work (OpenAI, 2025)
- A Harvard-BCG study of 758 consultants demonstrated +40% in quality and +25% in speed with structured prompt engineering
Named cases
| Company | Area | Result |
|---|---|---|
| BBVA (Legal) | Legal automation | 9,000+ queries a year, 3 employees redeployed, 26% of the department's annual saving |
| Lowe's | Customer service | Online conversion doubled, ~1 million queries a month through the Mylow assistant |
| Intercom | Support | 53% of calls resolved end to end by AI, 48% lower latency |
| Indeed | HR/Recruiting | +20% applications started, +13% hiring success, 7x faster matching |

The companies leading on AI achieve 1.7x more revenue growth, 3.6x more shareholder return and 1.6x more EBIT margin than the laggards, measured over a 3-year period (BCG, 2025).

How to deploy ChatGPT in your company in 8 weeks
A successful rollout follows a structured process:
| Week | Phase | Action |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Audit and policy | Assess needs, sign the DPA with OpenAI, draft the internal usage policy |
| 2 | Pilot | 5–10 users on one specific use case (commercial proposals, FAQs, reports) |
| 3–4 | Training | Prompt engineering workshops (4h minimum), building custom GPTs |
| 5 | Measurement | Assess time saved, output quality, team satisfaction |
| 6–7 | Rollout | Extend to a second use case, bring in the remaining departments |
| 8 | KPIs | Set your tracking metrics: usage, ROI, regulatory compliance |
Real cost by company size
| Size | Licences per month | Rollout (one-off) | Expected ROI |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 people (Business) | ~€200 | €2,000–€4,000 | Payback in 1–2 months |
| 30 people (Business) | ~€600 | €3,000–€8,000 | Payback in 3–4 months |
| 100 people (Enterprise) | ~€4,000–€7,500 | €10,000–€20,000 | Payback in 4–6 months |
The rollout figure covers training, usage policies, custom GPTs and security configuration.
Training and tax deductions: how to fund ChatGPT adoption
FUNDAE training (funded)
ChatGPT training for business — including prompt engineering, building GPTs and usage policies — can be funded through FUNDAE. Spanish companies with 1 to 9 employees recover 100% of their training credit; those with 10 to 49 recover 75% (FUNDAE, 2026).
On top of that, article 4 of the European AI Act (in force since February 2025) requires companies to ensure the AI literacy of their staff. ChatGPT training is not only about productivity — it is legal compliance. AESIA will supervise compliance in Spain from August 2026.
R&D&I tax deductions under Article 35 LIS
If your company builds custom GPTs, integrates ChatGPT with its CRM/ERP or creates automated flows with the OpenAI API, the project can qualify as Technological Innovation (Art. 35.2 LIS) with a 12% deduction in Impuesto sobre Sociedades (Spanish corporate income tax). For projects that develop proprietary algorithms, the deduction rises to 25–42% for R&D (Art. 35.1).

Next step
ChatGPT for business on the Business or Enterprise plan delivers measurable productivity (40–60 minutes saved a day), certified security (SOC 2, AES-256, data kept out of training) and a funding ecosystem that brings the cost down to practically zero for Spanish micro-SMEs. With BBVA offering free licences to SMEs and the AI Act requiring AI training, now is the moment to act.
At Tecnocim Innova we combine practical ChatGPT training with implementation consultancy and management of your tax deductions. We stay with you from choosing the plan through to measuring the ROI.
