How we manage funding for your startup

1

Assessment and support map

We analyse your startup profile: age, technology, turnover, team and previous investment. We identify which programmes are within reach and the order in which to apply for them.

2

Startup certification

If you meet the requirements of the Spanish Startups Act (Ley 28/2022), we file the certification with ENISA. It unlocks corporate income tax at 15%, the stock options exemption and access to public calls.

3

NEOTEC, ENISA and EIC applications

We draft the technical report, the business plan and the financial case tailored to each call. For NEOTEC, we maximise the grant (up to €325,000 with a PhD holder on the team). For EIC, we prepare the proposal in English.

4

Follow-up and tax optimisation

We manage project delivery, cost reporting and the R&D&I tax deductions that apply. We combine grants, corporate income tax at 15% and Art. 35 LIS to maximise the return.

Frequently asked questions about grants for startups

Ley 28/2022 requires: a company less than 5 years old (7 in strategic sectors such as biotech, energy or industry), a registered office in Spain, at least 60% of staff on Spanish employment contracts, no listing on a regulated market, no dividends distributed, turnover below €10M and an innovative, scalable business model. ENISA certifies the innovative character of the company and issues the startup certification.

Corporate income tax falls from 25% to 15% for the first year with a positive taxable base and the three years that follow. The stock options exemption rises from €12,000 to €50,000 a year per employee. Investors get a 50% deduction with a maximum base of €100,000. Tax debt can also be deferred for 12+6 months, with neither guarantees nor late-payment interest.

NEOTEC (CDTI) is a non-repayable grant of up to €325,000 for startups less than 3 years old with a technology project. ENISA offers repayable participating loans of up to €1.5M without guarantees. They are compatible: many startups use NEOTEC for the founding stage and ENISA to scale.

Yes. The Spanish Startups Act allows up to 7 years for strategic sectors (biotech, energy, industry). In addition, programmes such as CDTI PID, Activa Startups, European funds (EIC, FEDER) and ENISA apply far less restrictive age limits. Tecnocim identifies the programmes within reach of each company profile.

For post-revenue startups in growth: ENISA Crecimiento (up to €1.5M), EIC Accelerator (up to €2.5M grant + €10M equity), general CDTI calls (PID, Misiones) and European funds. In Catalonia, ACCIÓ offers R&D&I grants of up to €250,000. The key is to combine public funding with tax optimisation (Art. 35 LIS).

Generally yes, within the limits on accumulation of public support (de minimis). A common strategy is: (1) obtain the startup certification for corporate income tax at 15%, (2) apply for NEOTEC for the founding technology project, and (3) add ENISA for growth capital. Tecnocim works out the best combination.
